About the Blog

On June 27, 2014 my brother Alex and I released a full-length studio album titled "The Tide." "The Tide" was the result of countless hours of songwriting, recording, mixing, and mastering as well as significant financial investments from a number individuals (including ourselves). The hours and dollars were well worth it though, as we had fulfilled a lifelong dream. Besides, it wouldn't take too many sales to cover the monetary cost of the album. The album was very well received by friends, fans, and family! We received many congratulations for our achievement. We noted, however, that while the congratulations were sincere, they were often not coupled with the purchase of an album. "Why," I wondered, "would someone who enjoyed the music not purchase the album? Don't they know that if they don't pay for it, we can't afford to make any more music?" This got me to thinking about my own commitment to the music scene. Although all of my music has been acquired legitimately (generally through iTunes), I am not an extremely frequent buyer of new music. Generally I have been content to listen to the music I already love over and over again. And so, I made the commitment to purchasing one new CD every month. To encourage others to make the same commitment to music, I decided to share my thoughts about the albums I purchase, in the hopes that others will also purchase music on a regular basis.

Everybody loves music. Paying for the music you love will help towards keeping music alive.
